Repairability

Repairability shows what it costs to fix the part most likely to break, as a share of the price of a new one — scored from public parts catalogues, not from what manufacturers say about themselves.

What it does

  • Scores 50 products across 19 categories — appliances, phones, TVs, furniture, bikes, e-bikes and EVs — with an A–E grade and a plain-English verdict
  • Leads with the “disposability cliff”: the cheapest fix for the part that fails first, compared with buying new
  • Counts third-party parts as well as the maker’s, and caps the score when a safety recall is in force
  • Scored separately for the US and the EU, where the 2026 Right to Repair Directive guarantees spare parts
  • Every price links to its source. Works fully offline, with no account
